Kim Walker

Rainforest Teacher

Kim Walker received her Undergraduate Degree from Northeastern State University in Special Education and a Master’s Degree from Central State in Learning Disabilities. She is certified in Special Education,Learning Disabilities, Visual Impairment, and Elementary Education. Prior to coming to Town and Country, she worked as a special education teacher in the public schools for fifteen years. This is her thirteenth year at Town and Country as a fifth and sixth grade teacher.

As a teacher she loves structure and routine but within that structure is flexibility. She sees each child as an individual with their own unique set of experiences and challenges. She believes a classroom should not only cover the academics but also surround the student with a sense of security and acceptance. Communication is essential in providing the best possible outcome. She feels the parent’s job and her job as a teacher should have the same goal in mind, a student that is challenged, confident, and happy.
